A stupid question I don't know the answer to

Postby The Monkey King » 15. May 2010, 20:29

Yesterday I was at the gym and my friend asked if you glutes (butt) play a part in mma. He meant is that muscle important. I didn't know what to say. Any answers.

You need your glutes whenever you raise your upper body from a bent over position or when you extend a leg.

I think they are important for takedowns, sweeps, roundhouse kicks, punches, ...

Some exercises would be deadlifts, lunges and squats.

ass muscles are THE most important muscles in MMA. This is what people use when exploding up to bridge out of the bottom positions etc. Explosive hips are essential. They play a major role in ground game and throws and takedown defense.

I don't know if I agree with you concidering modern MMA. Id say their important but the core itself has become extreamly important since most of the fights nowdays come to controll of the oponent. Abs, back , ass, all equally important. It's not just about getting out, its about not getting fucked while doing it

I wouldn't say glutes or abs are the most important muscles in MMA. I'd rather say important is who has the stronger weakest link.

DO I NEED ALL MY MUSCLES??? ARF ARF ARF

MMA to me is about winning when you are not the best technical striker or highest level black belt. It is about winning when you are the better fighter.
