are you gonna compete a-rocc? if so, are you gonna do some boxing? cuz i really want to box, thats what i want to do first when i am ready to compete. then probably some kickboxing. meanwhile doing some bjj competitions. then mma. thats kinda my plan. i want to do it all. all amateur of course.

I am not competing at all. I have no experience at all. I can't afford lessons. So I'm sticking to wrestling for a while since it's way cheaper and it's in my school and I can get it for free. The rest I just rely on youtube and watch fights and try to learn as much as I can. I wanna do boxing or MMA amateur or pro. Doesn't matter to me it's all fun to me. Right now I'm in a wrestling program. Way cheaper than MMA lessons. I'm learning a lot from it. As soon as I get the money I'm going to that MMA gym.

cool man best of luck to you, i wish i had wrestled in high school but i thought it was lame at the time. silly me. thats what having an unhealthy marijuana habit will do to you. make you not want to do stuff. get in that mma gym, you will love it dude.

nfajammin wrote:Funny thing, i kinda new that but needed to hear it. I started training at an mma gym about 3 weeks ago now and i hurt my shoulder, for the past week i have been having to train a bit easier than i normally would and it has been getting me down as i feel i cant show what i am really capable of, if you know what i mean.... As i said im only a begginer in mma so any advice is good advice. Should i be slowly stretching out my shoulder or just resting it up as much as i can ? thanks

Well, as long as you didn't tear anything or dislocate the joint, you should be fine to train, just go lightly until it feels strong again. It's typical to throw out your shoulder if you're rolling a lot though, I did that all the time when I started BJJ. Just stretch it good and make sure you warm it up really well before you train, and if it's bothering you, go easy on it for a while. Unless it's a serious injury though, no reason to stop training. The only time I'd say stop training is if it's giving you severe pain that isn't going away (in which case you should probably go see a doctor, because that could be bad).

I don't like to get hit and I know that I need better cardio and technique to stop it.

I'm sure Bob Sapp can take 100 times the punishment I can. :(

BTW according to my trainer there are some guys that like to get hit. Fortunately for me he teaches a high-guard-defence-first style or how he calls it the russian/german style.

the thought in my head that I am capable of being the best, and can beat anyone
MMA to me is about winning when you are not the best technical striker or highest level black belt. It is about winning when you are the better fighter.

Nietzche's philosophy. I apply it for training in the gym aswell as studying. For pretty much every ''menial'' task that produces self-enhancing results.

i wish i wrestled in middle school. cause in high school some people have been wrestling for 10 years and they just beat on me. it's like a black belt vs. white belt in jui jitsu but i think of it as a good way. they teach me a lot of stuff.
