Heres a tip if you didnt know this which you probably do... If some one get you in an arm bar turn your palm up dont let them get your thumb up, I can hang in there on an arm bar for a min or 2 if they dont turn my thumb up. So if your getting put into one just make sure you turn your thumb out to the side with your palm up I had a guy twice my size that was cranking my arm in an armbar so hard his hips where shaking and he still couldnt finish the armbar and I eventually rolled right out of it...

A sugestion if I may... :D

It would be good if you put something like "BJJ 1" then "BJJ2" etc. in front of your BJJ threads. That way they would be placed close and people browsing here would know it's all covering the same matter, only different themes.

Just a suggestion, I don't want to impose or interfear.

Widow, this is a great post. Here is something I thught went with the theme http://hypoxicstate.com/play.php?vid=136
It shows arm bars from triangle, also, to the guys just starting out....it might seem like you need a cup to preform the armbar without smashing your balls " thats how I felt", you dont, its becuase your not squezing your legs tight

Is it just me or is it pretty easy to escape an armbar? Because the times which I got myself caught in one all I did was rolling over to the direction of the arm being held, and ended up on top of the opponent, in a position where even side control would be possible. Perhaps it's just me, perhaps the guys I fought against were all sloppy with their armbars. Any of you also see it that way?

Maybe they were a little sloppy or maybe your just good. When I was first starting out I would power my way out of armbars all the time....and that works well untill you go against a good blue belt. A big mistake alot of people make is grabbing down towrds the forearm compramisesing there leverage, as well as not squezing there legs tight, that opens thel escape where you rotate the rist. I myself find it much tuffer to get out of an armbar where only one leg is over and the other bent agaist the ribs, rather than 2 legs over.
