I am not very knowledgeable on MMA fights. Mostly I am attracted to this fight because of Lesnar's crossover from ProWrestling. It reminds me of when Wilt Chamberlain considered boxing, or the top racketball player tried to become a pro tennis player, or Jordan playing baseball. All of which did not pan out.
Reading these posts, there is a lot about how Lesnar will learn from the first Mir fight. However, there is not so much about Mir learning from his first encounter with Lesnar. My guess is that he and his trainers are working on what to do when Lesnar comes in for a take down, or what to do in the moments where Mir did not have time to think in the first fight. Where are wrestlers most vulnerable? Perhaps a choke response to a take down attempt? Not being that knowledgeable I would appreciate comments.
The reason Lesnar got a title shot, which seems to be a topic of interest - I want to mention pay-per-view revenues. He has a fan base draws pay-per-view customers for all his fights.
Nextly, postponing the fight really plays with emotions. It kind of makes people want the fight even more. ( I also will not be surprised if the fight gets delayed again. )
And there is a lot on the line here. If Mir wins that will be such a boost to his form of martial arts, and poopooing a wrestler convert. Lesnar has the Goliath thing going so all the David's are going to be very motivated to slay Goliath.
This takes the MixedMA to MIXEDMA, and makes for a interesting contest.
Mir seems to me to be playing mind games with comments as I recall about Lesnar flopping around like a fish after he does something to him, perhaps a choke. And, as I recall, Mir saying that he will never lose to Lesnar. Maybe Mir's trying to motivate himself.
In the best orientation, I don' t care who wins, I don't know who will win. It seems like an interesting contest that stirs a lot of emotions. It kind of has some elements of ProWrestling the way it has stirred up emotions, though somewhat coincidental.
