it is possible but honestly i dont think he is. my reasoning goes like this:
1. strikeforce's pie isnt nearly as big as ufc's pie - this is a no brainer
2. there are more people wanting to eat strikeforce's pie than ufc's pie - cbs, m1, and strikeforce
3. if the ufc's offer to fedor was really 5million per fight PLUS a % of the ppv buys, then there is no way in hell strikeforce could come close to matching that
something i would like to know is what kinda deal cbs has for mma companies. the ufc didnt like their deal so why did strikeforce and elite xc?
sucks we will never know for sure how much everyone is making so this is obviously just a guess
You've made the same mistake as alot of others. Fedor was NEVER offered five million a fight with the ufc. Fedor WAS offered a "multi-fight, 5 million contract". That means multi, as in two or more - for one paycheck of five million. Even if it was only two fights, that's only 2.5 million per fight. Fedors last win over AA made him somewhere between 3.5 to four million.
Fedor is part owner of his promotional company, so i get sick of hearing people talk about him having bad management. Two-three years ago, Dana made overtures to Fedor that bordered on insulting... treating him as just another fighter... AND... Fedor, M-1 global and strikeforce have made the exact same offer to Brock Lesner - a $5 million multi-fight deal. Lesner's biggest paycheck with the UFC has ben $400, 000. It seems to me, that Lesnar should finish his next (2 or 3?) fights on contract with the ufc, and sign the deal with strikeforce... People don't seem to remember, the UFC pays notoriosly low fees to their fighters.
Let's face it: Only noobs, some americans (the ones that don't know any better, so you can't really blame them) and those who haven't seen an MMA event that wasn't ufc, actually consider Brock to be the real heavy-weight champ.
Another thing... The Fedor/Lesnar fight would be the biggest MMA payday in history. There are TWO parts that make it that big. Fedor and UFC. Split the profits, and get the fight done for the fans.
ps - I'm not a ufc/dana white hater... Without them, MMA would never have evolved to this point, or enjoyed the western fan base that it does. That being said, I think that Dana White is now (because of greed or ego) restricting the growth of the sport. (John Fitch is the second best welter-weight in the world, but he's not in the ufc, because he didn't want his image used for free in the video game.)
