True. A professional basketball player can do this all day long but how many can take a hit from GSP. NONE of them. Not sure why anyone is even talking about how high someone can jump anyway.

I'm sure there are PLENTY of 6'10" basketball players that can take a hit from GSP..

GSP makes a 48 inch vertical leap. Higher than most basketball players.

Thats not how you measure vertical leap! It's bogus You dont measure how high including bent leg. You get measured like they do in the nfl football combine by jumping strait up and hitting markers then subtracting your height with extended reach, giving you your true vertical. Spud web would have jumped over GSP while he was jumping that bar

I doubt they care about how high GSP jumps. The thing they are training for is the legendary "explosiveness". It that fast-twitch muscle that is needed to hip-escape, punch, kick, jump, etc.
It's interesting to note that this kind of muscle has a low-oxidative requirement (not as much oxygen required through the blood). This makes perfect sense when you hear him talk about not believing in wasting time on conditioning training but rather skill training. If you eat and train to make the right kind of muscle, and yet work hard at skill training to keep you heart and lungs in shape, the conditioning will be the natural by-product. And you spend your time learning and applying new skills rather than learning how to ride a bike (making the high-aerobic type of slow-twitch muscle).

Jumping is nice, but useless.

true vertical is jumpin up with your hands and reachin at the highest point. This is nice but the legs help him get over. NBA and nfl players measure their vertical by touchin as high as they can.
