I'm surprised to see all the machida support considering all the hate he got 2 years prior to being champ!
I've been a machida fan for a while. Beating tito really did it for me. And call me crazy, but I actually enjoy his "boring" style. Where many see boring, I see genius.
Here's the thing about lyoto's style, and I guess it hasn't been said enough, you're IN his range even when you're out of YOUR range. He's been trained since he was a young pup to decipher these ranges and strike and retreat effectively from a range that muay thai fighters are not used to. Muay thai, while further out than boxers, is still quite a close quarters fight style. I don't see how shogun can mount a substantial offense without getting countered the whole time for coming into machida's range.
I see machida getting another tko. 3rd round. But it is a fight, shogun can KO, so it can go either way.....but I'm betting on machida.
We need a new Maurice Smith for the sport to further evolve.
