Machida Shogun should have been fight of the year, that was the most technical display of striking I've seen at 205.
That being said, Coleman should be in a lesser org but Couture has shown himself to still be worth watching. He looked great against Nog and put on a show that was on many people's top 10 fights of 09 list, and he showed an upstart Vera what he's up against at the upper levels of 205. Give the guy a break, what else does he have to do to show he's still a game competitor?

feels like there just giving fights to couture now a days, it should be fun watching two fighters who have past there prime go at it.

so it finally hit me...about this "lackluster" card with two dinosaurs in the main event...

this event is the same weekend as the fucking superbowl !! why put on a monster card and potentially compete with the fucking superbowl the same weekend??

sure the ufc event is on ppv and the superbowl isnt but people might be gearing up and spending money on superbowl sunday parties instead of the ppv event

Age and legend status aside, I'm just sick and tired of watching Randy push people against the cage for round after uninspiring round. Sure he wins, but if he keeps headlining cage-push decisions, people will lose interest. Maybe I'm not a "true fan" since I like to see more than face-rubbing and the odd short punch.

i completely agree. i think couture's "smart gameplan's" of pushing ppl against the cage might actually become bad for the sport like you said. i know if i was inviting one of my non mma friends to watch an mma event, it sure as shit wouldnt be one that couture is headlining. put urself (not you specifically PR, just a general question) in that friend's shoes, what would you think about mma after seeing the great couture win a boring ass decision? first impressions can last a long time

sure the atmosphere of the bar we watch the mma events is great, but said friend would think mma is boring as fuck

now imagine i invite that friend to an anderson silva (non leites) or lesnar fight
