shogun vs Rashad would be great....but IF Rashad wins, I dont' wanna see a one win straight to a rematch...give him 2 fights...there are others in the division that I wanna see machida fight.

They will find him some washed up has-been to make him look good again.

Maybe a Chuck rematch?

A chuck rematch would be boring. Here's what I'd like to see:

Rashad vs Shogun

Meanwhile, Rampage fights Machida (and probably loses). Winner of Rashad vs Shogun fights Rampage. Winner of that fight gets another title shot.

Couple of weeks ago there wasn't 15 guys on this site (correct me if I'm wrong) who claimed that we are gonna see the new, the exciting and the warrior king Machida. Even those who cheered for him thought (me included) that it's gonna be a dull and long fight IF he wins.

Now... The era of Machida begins... He is already the longest title holder in LHW division by at least half of the people here...

I call this kind of people "hipe worshiping consumers". It is the consumer mentality forced upon you - always looking for something new even if the old shit still works. And that new shit has to be shiny and well marketed so you can feel the hipe when you get it. Like you accomplished something by getting it. And you take that mentality everywhere including MMA.

Your opinion is worthless in my book. You will eat up everything that UFCs marketing throws at you. You don't know anything about martial arts and were excited when Kimbo came to UFC, which only morons could. So hipe it up as much as you won't, we all know you will soon go to "the next big thing" (all similarities to real people are accidental
 )

Accually Karate is an ancient martial art, perhaps you bought into the marketing of Evans boxing style as being "old shit" and now you try to market in your post that Machidas style is new, I dunno, go figure

Sorry, didn't quite understand the reply... I know about karate and its tradition, but I fail to see when I said something like karate being new and boxing old... I was talking about Machida as a fighter, not his style... And was refering to people who probably don't know the history of karate or any other martial art. And who would probably start shouting "WAR" all over this site every time a new, well marketed fighter appears. Machida doesn't fall under that category, but was a suprise to many who (obviously) didn't do their math and check upon him and his previous fights as well as Shotokan karate style.

If I misunderstud you, please clarify so that I can explain what I ment with that post. Cheers.

I had to assume you were talking about Machidas fighting technique. If you had said "someone new", then I would of assumed you were talking about Machida himself.

i agree with you saying that most of us thought machida was going to win by a ((boring)) decision. this was a pretty good guess because seven out of machida's last 9 fights prior to this fight went to a decision with machida obviously winning them all ((this does not include his forfeit victory))

before the fight i stated that IMO machida is a boring fighter because he fights elusively to win decisions. after this fight, i am stating that i have one foot on the machida wagon because his has 3 non-decision finishes in his last 4 fights. i think that shows that machida is becoming a more aggressive fighter which is what i like as a fan. i like to see fights finish with a ko, tko, or sub

the fact that machida is the only person to ever beat evans AND do it with a 2nd round ko is what has everyone so pumped up. i personally do not think there would be this much "machida is the greatest ever" talk if machida had won with a boring decision. machida gave what most of the audience wanted ((ktfo of evans)) and we have responded accordingly. i think we would see the same reaction and praise toward evans if evans had ktfo of machida

damn, you gotta love two undefeateds fighting for a title! :D

I'm really unsure what people are thinking when they say Rampage has a better shot at beating Machida than Evans did. First of all, if you watch all of Rampages fights (not just some highlight), you will see he gets hurt A LOT. His chin might keep him from being KO'd, but he is hurt just as easy as most fighters. Take for example his fight against Arona, before he got the slam, Arona almost finished him. In fact, I'd say if that fight had been in the UFC, there's a 95% chance that a ref would have stopped the fight, and rampage would have lost. Not to mention that when he fights Machida, he's going to be coming straight at him, which is EXACTLY what Machida wants. In my opinion, Quintons rampage wont last as long as Evans did.

I think that Quinton will last longer because I think that he has a better chin than Rashad. But I still think that Rampage will lose by TKO. Anything that rampage can do, Machida has already beaten better.
