David Michaud vs. Li Jingliang fight video PREDICTION: Zane Simon: Jingliang doesn't really strike at all, but Michaud has a clinch grinding style that could play right into Jingliangs super clingly grappling. Jingliang is also beastly strong and Michaud is a bit undersized. Still I'm not all that confident in Jingliang's ability to close the distance, and Michaud has a lot more striking tools at his disposal. So I'll take him here, even though there's every possibility that Jingliang just drags him down and subs him. David Michaud by decision.

Jamie Varner vs James Krause fight video PREDICTION: I think Varner's renaissance has come to an end. The Trujillo fight was awesome, but his longstanding habit of getting punched in the face finally resulted in the biggest consequence of getting knocked out cold. Krause has developed his striking well enough over the years and his submission game poses huge problems for Varner and that's how he'll get the victory. James Krause by submission, round 2.

Prediction: I honestly think that this fight just comes down to who can implement their clinch offense. And I think that's Browne. He's not the cleanest striker, but he moves well, doesn't tire, and hits hard, and I think when Werdum looks to clinch up and get his takedown game going he's going to hit a brick wall. Prediction: Much like Ronda Rousey, Alexis Davis, Sarah Kaufman, and Marloes Coenen before her, Miesha Tate is exactly the caliber of opponent that Liz Carmouche doesn't have the tools to beat. She's great against small, or less grapple savy opponents who can be overwhelmed by her bullying takedown game, but any opponent with a bit of size, strength and chops on the mat can tear her apart. Miesha Tate by one-sided decision.

COMMENT: CERRONE vs BARBOZA

Prediction: Cerrone should consider testing Barboza on his back, but this is Donald freaking Cerrone, so that ain't happening. So what will ensue? Entertainment for the masses. Barboza has the stronger, heavier kicking game while Cerrone probably has the better hands. Barboza has shown a much shakier chin than Cerrone has, which is my deciding factor in this one. I expect Cerrone to hurt Barboza and then finish him off with a rear-naked choke a la the Dennis Siver fight. Donald Cerrone via submission, round 2.

Prediction: Tavares doesn't have the power to put away Romero, but he does have the striking to win a decision. Romero has the power to knock him out. Let's just pray this doesn't go the distance because at least one of these men will be absolutely pooped. Yoel Romero, KO, round number 2.

Prediction: This is a close fight, much closer than the betting lines (Nurmy -250) would indicate. Dos Anjos looked better than ever before against Cerrone, mixing in some potent Muay Thai with his always-excellent takedowns and top control. I'd love to see him grab the win here, but Nurmagomedov is a brutal matchup: he has absurdly good takedown defense, a great clinch game, and the ability to do serious damage in transition. RDA probably has the advantage at striking range, though with Nurmy's improvement that isn't a given, and if he can keep the fight there he has a good chance of winning. I just don't think he can for all three rounds. Nurmagomedov, unanimous decision.

COMMENT: ALVES vs BACZYNSKI

Prediction: Ring rust sucks, so that could be a factor in Alves' performance. Baczynski got merc'ed by Brian Melancon just last year and Alves is a much better striker than Melancon is. An upset loss should have Alves re-thinking his career, otherwise this will be a smashing. Thiago Alves, KO, round 2.

Prediction: White is an interesting prospect who's flown under just about everybody's radar. I wouldn't have known about him but for the fact that his aggrieved manager emailed me, demanding to know why I didn't have him on my prospect list. Once I started looking at the tape, I saw a big, skilled, and aggressive striker with a solid complementary submission game. Payan is solid at most things but not great anywhere, and I think this is an excellent opportunity for White to introduce himself to a larger audience. White, TKO, round 2.

Prediction: I had Bektic ranked as the top prospect in MMA regardless of weight class on my Searching for Future Champions list. He's one of the most physically overwhelming and explosive fighters I've ever seen, with an almost indescribably violent top game and outstanding aggressiveness. Skelly is a fine prospect in his own right, with an excellent wrestling base and solid grappling chops, but I think Bektic is something really special. Bektic, unanimous decision.

Prediction: Unless Magalhaes has improved a lot, he's not better at anything than Zachrich. So far he's been known as a fighter who can keep going after his opponent has gassed out or injured himself out of competition. That's not much of an endorsement. Zachrich isn't exciting, but he's a competent grappler, decent wrestler, and has a very careful striking game that doesn't put him at a lot of risk. Magalhaes is young, so it's entirely possible that he'll come out looking way better, but I don't like to bet on that as the deciding factor. Luke Zachrich by decision.

Prediction: I think May is the superior striker, but has much more questionable cardio. Lewis is otherwise probably a bit more well rounded which will serve him well if this goes longer than 5 minutes. Derrick Lewis via gas tank.

Prediction: Douglas Lima vs. Rick Hawn - It's hard for me to see how Hawn takes this short of a monster right hand landing for the judo Olympian. Lima is the cleaner striker at distance, is probably better at mat wrestling and submissions and is the naturally bigger fighter of the two. Hawn has what I like to call an 'elevated puncher's chance', which is to say he doesn't have many ways to win, but has an extremely potent punch. Lima, though, is too good, too technical and too big. Prediction: Patricky Pitbull vs. Derek Campos - If Campos can do what he does best - mix up the phases of his offense, go high and low and get the takedown when he needs it - he can pull this off. The issue is whether or not that's really possibly in this fight. It may well be. I legitimately don't know, but I'm not convinced he can. And if he can't, Campos just isn't the striker Pitbull is, not by a long shot. Pick: Pitbull

Prediction: Noons has lost 5 out of his last 7, and his last win was a very favorable stylistic match up against Sotiropoulos. Stout matches up well with Noons, and I think he will win the stand up battle. That being said, no one knows why this was suddenly bumped up to welterweight, so maybe there's one dude that has an injury, and in that case, all bets are off. Sam Stout by Decision.

Prediction: This is a bad matchup for Kennedy, and it seems relatively straightforward to me. Bisping's stuffed far better wrestlers than Kennedy over the years, and on the feet Bisping's output and all-around technical proficiency are going to be too much for the American to handle over five rounds. Kennedy's tougher than nails, so I doubt he'll get finished, but I'm not giving him much of a shot outside a hail-mary. Bisping, unanimous decision.

Prediction: The big question mark here is Noke's long layoff, since he hasn't fought since September of 2012. Otherwise, he's the superior wrestler and grappler, while any striking edge in Cote's favor is relatively small and basically boils down to power, since Noke pushes a quicker pace and produces more volume. To top it all off, Cote is a longtime veteran, and it's only a matter of time before he begins to slide, if he hasn't already. Noke, unanimous decision.

Prediction: All credit to Corassani, who's gone from being a wild power puncher on the Ultimate Fighter to a fairly technical striker and solid all-around fighter, but he's not in Poirier's league in any phase of the fight. I think the Diamond dents Corassani's questionable chin with a hard shot and jumps on a submission. Poirier, submission, round 2.

Westcott vs Theodorou

Prediction: These two really are almost mirror images of one another in terms of background and overall skill. Westcott is the better wrestler grappler, and Theodorou is the much better striker, but neither man has a wealth of experience or a martial arts background outside of MMA. I think Theodorou's size and athleticism is going to keep him from getting run over by Westcott in the clinch and his superior range striking skills will probably make the difference. Theodorou by decision.

Jimmo vs O'Connell

Prediction: I don't usually say this, but Sean O'Connell is not a very good fighter. Jimmo is a lot of things but bad at MMA isn't actually one of them (no matter what Tim Burke would have you believe). This has all the hallmarks of a short, one sided fight. Ryan Jimmo by KO round 1.

Prediction: Chad Laprise vs. Olivier Aubin-Mercier Unlike the other TUF Finale, a battle of generalists, this is very much a specialists match. Laprise is a very good, but not entirely dominant striker and Aubin-Mercier is a very strong judoka with some legit BJJ skills. I'm taking the judo trips and throws and what I expect to be a huge grappling strength advantage for Aubin-Mercier over Laprise's much better, but still hittable kickboxing. Prediction: George Roop is such a hot and cold fighter. His win over a latter day Brian Bowles was nice, but his loss to Francisco Rivera is much more like what I expect out of him. He's always fun, never consistent and often incredibly hittable. That said, Kimura isn't exactly a striking savante and may have trouble taking down the much larger Roop. It's a close fight, but I'll take Kimura to show me something interesting, rather than backing the guy I know I shouldn't back. Dustin Kimura by Submission, Round 2.

Prediction: I can't help but feel that Kaufman is kind of on a decline. Her recent performances have been uninspired to say the least. Fortunately for her, she's facing a fighter, who despite having fought her before, will be coming in on very little notice from a different weight class. I'd pick Smith if this were just a straightforward full camp situation, but it's not, so I wont. Sarah Kaufman by Decision.

If he goes to the ground, I think Nelson has enough to survive, and if it stays on the feet, Nog eventually eats that Nelson hand. So Nelson by KO, right? Sure, but screw that noise. Prediction: I can only assume Greg Jackson's camp told Guida to do that bouncy castle nonsense, which is a strong argument for those who believe Jackson is set to murder MMA for a 19th time. "Old" Guida actually had some ground-and-pound, flat-footed forward movement, and wasn't content to sit in guard and throw shoulder strikes. "New" Guida does all of that, still can't strike, and he'll not only lose but the UFC will cut him. Tatsuya Kawajiri by unanimous decision.

Prediction: This is a really interesting fight between two excellent featherweight prospects. Alers is the better wrestler and grappler, and Omer the better striker; the fight probably comes down to whether the Iraqi-German can keep the fight on the feet long enough to work his crackling boxing game. While Omer has improved his takedown defense during his long layoff, I don't think he'll be good enough to stuff Alers for all three rounds. Alers, unanimous decision.

Omielanczuk vs Rosholt

Prediction: Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't see Rosholt getting many TKOs in his UFC career. I wouldn't even be surprised if he got KO'd here. I'm not picking that, because he's got one clearly superior skill to Omielanczuk, who's only somewht better on his feet than Rosholt, but I have yet to see anything from the 3 time All-American to suggest I should be favoring him heavily in any fight. Jared Rosholt by decision.

Bedford vs Yahya

Prediction: Rani Yahya has not been remotely interesting to watch in the UFC except for when he choked out Josh Grispi. This is however a favorable matchup for him and Bedford is just completely outmatched on the ground. Rani Yahya by submission, round 2.

Interesting: Of the two, Beltran's fall has been the most precipitous: Since 2011, he's amassed a record of 2-6-1 NC. That's a lot of pink boxes on his Wikipedia page. Matyushenko, who made his UFC debut against Yuki Kondo at UFC 32 all the way back in 2001, may have more miles under his belt than "The Mexicutioner," but he's also a more talented fighter.

Mighty Mo vs Volkov

Interesting: Former pro kickboxer "Mighty Mo" may be relatively inexperienced in the MMA game, but at 43 years of age he's far from a spring chicken when it comes to this combat sports business. In sharp contrast, the former Bellator heavyweight champ Volkov is just 25. However, unlike the case of the Bellator 116 main event, Volkov is also a far more experienced mixed martial artist than Mighty Mo, who has a record of just two wins and one loss in MMA competition.

Johnson vs Ivanov

Interesting: What we have here is a classic case of a member of the old guard attempting to make a stand against an up and coming young lion. Johnson is 36 years old and has been victorious in just three of his past eight fights. He's obviously much closer to the end of his career as a professional beater of asses than to its beginning. Ivanov on the other hand is a mere 27 years old. What's more, he sports an undefeated record and a combat sambo victory over MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko during "The Last Emperor's" prime back in 2008.

Interesting: The final episode of the season opens with Team Australia’s Richard Walsh trying to come to grips with his defeat last week. He blames his performance on over-thinking and just not flipping the switch. Sheldon tries to comforts him by telling Richard that Olivier does the same thing to all of them in practice, but his words fall on deaf ears. Chad tries to make the conversation about him and how he’ll be facing Olivier in the finals, but no one pay much attention to that either.

Interesting: Episode 5 is up and by the looks of it, I feel that Wanderlei is buzzing, if not drunk. They also make it seem like the confrontation coming up in the next episode is the highlight of the show. Pretty sad if true. And what's up with the pointless games?! It didn't work for the first TUF, why redo it? (beating a dead horse I know). Just wish they would use the air time to get you more invested into the 2 fighters fighting; show highlights from their previous fights, show clips of their tryouts, the coaches commenting on all of that.

PREDICTION: Bellator sets up their first main event on a pay per view card with a grudge match, that will end in a slug fest. The two fighters have much disdain between each other, stemming back from Jackson’s days as UFC champion. All the talking aside and verbal jabs put behind them, the weigh ins are tomorrow; the score to be settled will be Saturday night. Rampage has the experience advantage and may have the better boxing then Lawal. Muhammed Lawal is the overall better fighter though, and if he can mix up his superior wrestling along with crisp combinations, he could steal this victory. Lawal in recent fights has fallen in love with his striking game and if he walks into the cage with that mindset, Rampage may proceed to end this fight quickly. The prediction is Lawal for this fight, this match up is a must win for Lawal and Jackson’s take down defense has been poor for years. Look for “King Mo” to pull out a unanimous decision victory here.

She played soccer and tried gymnastics, swimming and diving before getting into boxing and kickboxing. Holly's path to a boxing career began with aerobics. "I started aerobics to keep in shape, saw the (kickboxing) class, thought it looked pretty cool, so I thought I'd try it for one fight and see what it was like," says Holm.

The winning coach not only earns some bragging rights, but they’ll also win $20,000 for their team (no word on if the money will be given in Australian, American or Canadian denominations).
